Both guitarists, Robbie Blunt and Kevin Gammond (a member of ROBERT PLANT's pre- BAND OF JOY act from 1965 CRAWLING KINGSNAKES), have gone onto work with ROBERT PLANT whilst Gammond alongside drummer Pete Robinson and bassist John Pasternak are ex BAND OF JOY, another of Plant's pre LED ZEPPELIN outfits. BRONCO's line up was completed by ex SHAKEDOWN SOUNDS / ALAN BOWN SET vocalist Jess Roden.Blunt has made his way to BRONCO from his first act BUTCH CLUTCH & THE EXCELLERATORS although Blunt did guest live for Robert Plant's act CRAWLING KINGSNAKES on ocassion. Blunt forged BRONCO in 1970.BRONCO's debut 'Country Home', produced by Mike Flicker, saw future HEART guitarist Howard Leese contributing as a guest as did singer Clifford T. Ward.The 'Ace Of Sunlight' album benifitted from many notable guests including MOTT THE HOOPLE's Ian Hunter on keyboards, future BAD COMPANY man MICK RALPHS, renowned U.S. Country singer Terry Allen and FAIRPORT CONVENTION vocalist Trevor Lucas.For their third effort BRONCO, after losing Roden, moved labels to Polydor. BAND OF JOY guitarist Dan Fore and erstwhile EQUALS vocalist / guitarist Paul Lockey put in sessions as did OPEN ROAD keyboard player Simon Lanzon.Robinson, Fone, Lockey, Gammond and Pasternak refounded BAND OF JOY. Despite the ZEP curiosity connections the album failed to sell and Gammonds and Pasternak created PICTURES IN A DARKROOM issuing one bizarre single 'Animals In Music'.Following BRONCO's breakup Roden pursued a successful solo career releasing no less than 8 albums for Island Records. Blunt joined MICHAEL DES BARRE's SILVERHEAD, then BROKEN GLASS for a self titled album prior to a stint in CHICKENSHACK. Blunt relocated back to Kidderminster performing with LITTLE ACRE and recording STEVE GIBBONS album 'Street Parade' in 1980. The early 80's had the guitarist reunited with Robert Plant appearing on THE HONEYDRIPPERS album and three of Plant's albums 1982's 'Pictures At Eleven', 1983's 'Principle Of Moments' and 1985's 'Shaken n' Stirred'. Blunt has also played with Irish Folk outfit CLANNAD.Pasternak died of a heart attack in 1987.Gammond, under the pseudonym of 'Carlyle Egypt', was working with Robert Plant's PRIORY OF BRION during 2000. © Musicdetector Websites
