Northwinds - Masters Of Magic (CD)
Black Widow 8019991559376

Genre: Folk-Metal
Recorded: 2000
Released: 2000

Black Sabbathn meets Jethro Tull. Some Notes about the band: Formed in Paris in the early nineties, NORTHWINDS soon became well-known in the musical scene for their fascinating mixture of hard rock in the vein of JETHRO TULL and BLACK SABBATH, combined with pagan folk influences and charming acoustic solutions. And so came ''Great God Pan'', the brilliant debut-album featuring five hymns to the God of the woods, plus a folkish cover song of BLACK SABBATH's ''A National Acrobat''. After three years of silence and the participation to important compilations and tribute-albums on Black Widow Records, NORTHWINDS are back with their new opus, ''Masters of Magic'', the second journey through the paths of Magic, which has always been a strong source of inspiration for the band. Follow the french bards into the enchanted forest of NORTHWINDS...1. ''Masters of Magic'' features nine tracks of rare intensity, where doom-rock riffing is calmed down by dreaming intermezzos of psycho-keyboards and acoustic guitar, with a heavy sound rooted in the seventies but always striving to the future. ''Masters of Magic'' unveils a professional and mature band, whose interest in Magic and musical research introduced the members to the court of Steve Sylvester and DEATH SS, who has composed and played the fantastic intro and outro. The band has also worked in collaboration with the painter Danilo Capua, who has given some of his unique works to enrich the booklet of the album.
